Drohobych is small, but one of the most beautiful cities of Western Ukraine, and the capital of salt production. This city sent biographies of many famous personalities. Yuriy Kotermak‐Drohobych was astronomer and philosopher of the Renaissance, and also the first Ukrainian Doctor of Medicine, and Rector of the University of Bologna.  Jewish writer and artist Bruno Schulz (20th c.), as well as Kotermak comes from Drohobych. The famous Ukrainian  writer and scientist Ivan Franko studied at a normal and high schools in Drohobych.

Timber church of St. George (XV ‐XVII c.) is the pearl of Drohobych with its consummate wall murals and unique  wooden iconostasis (which preserved perfectly well). The church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Market Square ensembles together with the town hall and the two oldest buildings of the city: the  Gothic Church of St. Bartholomew (1392) and the bell tower (XIII century) are worth to visit.

Boryslav is a former oil capital of Galicia, which was described by Franko in his writings. It is the only city in the world that is located in the industrial oil and gas, and ozocerite field  with numerous sources of mineral and medicinal waters.

Boryslav ozocerite mine is one of the world’s largest one in terms of reserves and production levels. In the second half of the XIX century, Boryslav ozocerite was used for the isolation of the first transatlantic telegraph cable between Europe and the United States. Industrial development of Boryslav oil field started in the 60s of the XIX century and reached its peak in 1909 (and constituted 5% of world oil production).
